Soph Micah Davis Ks 14 in defeat of 2nd ranked St Thomas

The Eagles defeated St. Thomas Catholic High school tonight, the #2-ranked private school baseball program in the state of Texas (#2 in both pre-season and active rankings).

Sophomore Micah Davis threw 6 outstanding innings, striking out 14, allowing only 3 walks and 3 hits; only four outs were needed in the field in his 6 innings. His brother, senior Mark Davis, came in for the save to complete the 5-3 victory.

The Eagles’ bats provided a spark offensively, with 9 hits and 3 walks to generate our 5 runs, including 1 run earned off the St. Thomas starting pitcher, whom more than half a dozen MLB scouts were on hand to watch, radar guns in hand.

“It’s one of the best outings and best wins in the history of HCYA. It’s really exciting that our first win against St. Thomas comes when they are the #2 ranked private school team in the state”, said team director Jeff Roberts. “We faced a top quality program tonight and we showed we can compete at that highest level.”

We have great momentum Eagles! Let’s keep it rolling!
