Late comeback falls short vs St. Louis

The Eagles gave up too much of a lead to come back from in today’s Division II semi-final action. We gave it a good effort, scoring 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning, but in the end fell to the St. Louis Patriots 10-7.

It marks the fifth year in a row that St. Louis has edged the Eagles: three of those victories being 1-run games (including last year). They have become something of a nemesis for HCYA here at the Homeschool World Series.

This year’s Patriots roster includes 14 seniors – by far the largest number of any team here in the tournament. We made it a contest despite their experience, outhitting them 10-8 and tallying more earned runs 6-5. But the scoreboard is the tally that matters, and that read 10-7 at the end of this one.

The Eagles will face the Raleigh Warriors tomorrow for 3rd place in Division II. Go Eagles! – let’s finish strong!
