Hot bats and arms combine for 8-0 shutout of Dulles

Four pitchers combined for a 7-inning shutout of the Dulles Vikings today, allowing only 5 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 5. Sr Colin Roberts, Sr Joseph Parker, So Brayton Cardwell and Jr Elijah Gumbs all kept the Vikings out of the runs column.

In our half of every inning, our bats were hot, led by Jr Vince Parlante who went 3-5 in the leadoff spot. In total HCYA racked up 8 hits and 8 walks, striking out only 4 times.

Both teams made a few mistakes in the field, but our performance on the mound and at the plate made the difference.

Coach Andy Johnson was encouraged by the team’s play, saying “This was good baseball today, fellas. We are improving. There was a lot to feel good about today.”

Only 1 game remains for Varsity in the fall, in 2 weeks. Let’s not sit around waiting on it to come. Starting Monday let’s hit the workout really hard (see workout program here)…

But for tonight at least, we can celebrate. Way to go Eagles…!
