Eagles pick up a pair of wins against Emery-Weiner
The Eagles took advantage of a depleted Emery-Weiner roster yesterday with victories in both matchups of a very hot double-header.
The temperature was hot (97 degrees), but so were our bats. The wins came 10-4 and 5-4, with the offense putting up 10 hits and 12 walks in scoring 15 total runs – an encouraging sign as the fall season nears its halfway mark. From the mound our pitchers struck out 13 and walked only 5, with 2 hit batsmen.
It was a nice day of baseball on a hot late summer afternoon in Houston. The games also gave our coaching staff additional chances to see players in different situations before making final decisions about the Varsity and JV rosters.
Judging by the day’s results, competition for the final Varsity roster spots has been good for the team. Hopefully everyone is putting in the time on workouts, tee and pitching practice. This is where all those hours pay off!
