Eagles finish 2019 HWSA with a pitcher’s duel vs Raleigh

HCYA and Raleigh faced off today in a fight for 3rd place in Division II in this year’s Homeschool World Series. And both teams sent talented pitchers to the mound.

Eagles batters managed only 1 run on 4 hits, with 8 strikeouts. The Warriors eked out 2 runs on 6 hits to take the win, despite striking out 14 times, (13 at the hands of Micah Davis in 5.2 innings of work.)

It was a reminder of the criticality of pitching in this tournament, and a poignant farewell game for the Eagles’ three Varsity seniors.

As always, the week brought many ups and downs. Perhaps more importantly, all that time together on and off the field gave all our families and players a chance to bond together more closely – camaraderie that will serve as the foundation of next year’s team!
