Eagles earn 3rd place in Division II

The Eagles earned 3rd place in Division II of the Homeschool World Series today after their third victory in the tournament over the Carrollton Storm.

In total for the week, HCYA went 3-3, scored 39 runs and allowed only 27. We batted .309 – led by senior Mark Davis who batted .600..! We finished with a team ERA of 2.35 – led by sophomore Micah Davis who posted an ERA of 0.55 with 27 strikeouts in 12.2 innings in his two starts.

As it seems every year, we had a tough draw. Our three losses were all by either 1 or 2 runs; all three were to teams which finished in the top 10 – in fact two of the three losses were to teams which ended up in the top 4 in the nation.

Beyond the on-field results, we had a great tournament just being together as families, cheering on the team at the fields and having fun afterwards. We had a great evening taking over Congo River Mini-Golf with 50+ golfers. Many trips were made to Disney and the beach. Pelican’s Sno-balls was once again a popular stop-over after game days, and an awful lot of swimming, ping pong and pool will be among our favorite memories of the week.
