Comeback gives Eagles Winning record at El Campo
Having rained out our only other in-season tournament, we were happy to have clear skies and dry ground to play on this weekend at the El Campo Invitational.
It was a good chance to get our bats on-track after so many rain-outs. Across 5 games, HCYA scored 34 runs. 4 of those runs came on our first two homers of the season, one each by sophomores Isaac Engibous and Max Soliz. (And it’s not a small field in El Campo.)
The final game gave us a dramatic chance for redemption against a Brazosport team which had beaten us in game 1. We jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, then saw them jump ahead 8-4 on some untimely errors. The offense responded though, scoring 5 in the 6th and 4 more in the 7th to finish the Exporters off 13-8, giving the Eagles a winning record 3-2.
It was a great weekend of baseball, and hopefully one from which we can keep momentum as we head into the rest of the season. Go Eagles!
