A Tale of Two Games vs powerhouse Lamar

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. The rain held off long enough today for our scheduled double-header with the Texans from Lamar High School. The games were played back to back on the same field in the same weather with the same umpires, but they could not have been more different from each other.

The Eagles came out strong in the opener both on the mound and with our bats. A trio of pitchers held the Texans scoreless, allowing only 2 hits and 1 walk, while we put up 6 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks.

But the Texans weren’t going to stay down all day. In game 2 they came roaring back. The Eagles managed about the same offensive output (3 hits and 4 walks), but the Texans greatly increased theirs; in total for game 2 they posted 9 hits and 6 walks to return the blowout they received in game 1.

It was a Tale of Two Games, and a battle of two teams with talented rosters. As the fall season proceeds, we’ll continue to see quality opposition. Let’s keep working hard Eagles to rise to the challenge and give as good as we get!
