7-1 victory over Lutheran South caps winning Fall
Four Eagles pitchers combined to allow just 2 hits and 1 run in the fall finale yesterday. They struck out 8 and walked only 2 in the game.
Lutheran South Academy is a baseball powerhouse, a perennial playoff team in TAPPS 4A, and winners of the state championship as recently as 2015. No doubt the Pioneers were impacted by some players being out for football season, but it still represents a quality win for us. We look forward to our opening day spring 2018 matchup when LSA will have their full roster.
HCYA Varsity ended the Fall 2017 season with a team batting average of .226 and a team ERA of 3.84, winning 7 of 13 games. Between the Kyle Chapman league and Lutheran South, we played against the toughest competition available in the fall in Houston, and are proud of the team posting a winning record in what was expected to be a rebuilding year!
There is a lot of work still to do to prepare for Spring though. Eagles – keep up the Workout Program (see here), throw and hit off tee at home, stay in shape, and we’ll look to see everyone back for our first Spring practice on Jan.2nd…! (Full Spring season calendar here).
